As you are aware, the Society of Fisheries Technologists (India) has instituted a biennial SOFTI AWARD, carrying a medallion a citation and a cash component of Rs. 25000/- (Twenty five thousand only) to honour a Scientist/Technologist who has made outstanding contribution in any branch of fishery technology. The twelfth award is due to be presented in 2016. The Scientist/Technologist for this prestigious award will be selected from among those applications/nominations received from individuals/institutions. The society invites applications or nominations from suitable personalities who should be considered for this award. Applications / nominations should explain clearly why the person is considered worthy of this award and should contain a brief bio-data of the applicant or nominee with supporting documents to justify the proposal. Eligibility:
Any Indian National who has made outstanding contribution in any branch of fishery technology/ science is eligible for this award.
Method of Selection:
The Society announces the award once in two years and invites application/ nominations for consideration. Any individual interested in the advancement of fishery technology can apply or propose the name of any other individual who, in his opinion, has made outstanding contributions in any field directly related to fishery technology, for this award. Such proposals should be accompanied by a brief bio-data and the facts mentioned in the write up should be authenticated with proper documents/certificates. Recognition of the contribution by reputed international organization/professional societies/scientific journals etc. will be given due consideration. The bio-data should give all relevant particulars about the career, achievements, list of publications including bulletins, books etc. of the nominee. The information can be given in the proforma attached separately with this communication and should give all relevant points clearly and unambiguously.
Award Selection Committee
This committee will consist of five members. The President and the Secretary of the Society of Fisheries Technologists (India) or their nominees will be ex-officio members of the Committee. The other three non-official members will be selected by the Executive Committee. Those members shall be well known persons of standing and reputation in the field of fishery technology from Universities/Research and Development Institutions/ Educational Institutions/ Professional Bodies etc.
